Mission & Outreach

Mission & Outreach Team - The heart of mission is people and people are the heart of God.  Our goal at Watauga Avenue is to live out that mission with love, grace and genuine caring.

Presbyterian Women.   The women of Watauga Avenue Presbyterian Church meet monthly (except summer in two circles for bible study and fellowship.   On the 5th Tuesday of each month we meet to work on mission projects.  Current projects include collecting and trimming stamps to send to the Reinholts, trimming and sending bar codes from soup cans and other products to Sunset Gap and gathering and delivering personal hygiene bags to the Downtown Clinic, IHN and Safe Passage.  We also help deliver Meals on Wheels and Nutrition for the Elderly.  We arrange for the meal for the Fathers Day Church in the Park and we have an annual mother/daughter luncheon each May.  All women of the church are invited to join and encouraged to be a part of this fellowship.

Other special projects include Equal Exchange corner that  members can purchase products from the Presbyterian Coffee Project coffee, chocolate and other items..

The Formula For Life (FFL) necklace project continues to grow! FFL raises money to help in the prevention of mother-to-child transmission for HIV-negative babies in Mwandi, Zambia, whose mothers are HIV-positive. Since the project began in 2009, the total amount of money raised is over $137,000, including sales of $3250 at the recent Aiken's Makin'!
