Thursday, August 16th, 7 pm at Watauga Avenue Presbyterian Church! Rev. Lee Clements will initiate a series of guided discussions on being a social advocate and the scriptural basis. In the series she will address specific topics pertinent to the discussion. This is a tremendous opportunity to explore current issues and grow in faith. Hope to see you!

We will also plan legislative visits for the August Congressional recess. SAW will join other faith communities to take action in opposition to additional family separation, expanded family detention, and funding additional immigration enforcement. We hope summer has afforded you time with loved ones, rest and beautiful experiences that lift and rejuvenate your spirit. We look forward to partnering with you in this crucial work at such a critical time.

Our Taizé Service of Healing and Wholeness returns in August. Taizé services will be held on the second Wednesday of the month from August through November. Each service will be followed by a light supper in the Fellowship Hall. We look forward to having you and your friends join us for this contemplative and meditative service.   Other services in this series are on September 12, October 10, and November 14.   We hope that you will join us.

The Reverend Patrica Locke’s book, Now and Not Yet: Sermons of Grace and Hope, was published by Parson’s Porch Book Publishing in January 2018.   This work is a wonderful collection of sermons that showcase her talent as both a storyteller and a communicator.  Copies are available for purchase in the church office, as well as the publisher.   Contact us and we will gladly reserve a copy of you.  Stay tuned for an announcment about a book signing opportunity soon!
