MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
IN PERSON WORSHIP SERVICES / LIVE-STREAMING NOW AVAILABLE
Watauga Avenue Presbyterian Church resumed in-person worship on Sunday, June 6th. As a continued precaution we are asking all worshippers to social distance within the Sanctuary. Hand-sanitizer will be available, and a sign-in sheet to record those in attendance will be on hand. There should be plenty of room within the Sanctuary for everyone to be sufficiently distanced. Please observe no-touch ways of greeting one another. Masks will are optional for singing and throughout the service as long as covid cases in the region are on the rise. We look forward to seeing you again.
We are pleased to announce that our Morning Worship service is available from our church’s YouTube page at Watauga Presbyterian Church. PLEASE CLICK HERE TO JOIN US FOR WORSHIP. We look forward to seeing you in-person or virtually each week.
The reopening of our facility to outside groups is approved. Groups will be asked to social distance and remain cautious. Contact the church office if your group would like to apply for meeting space. Thanks for your patience and understanding of this matter. Please take care and continue to stay safe. May God Bless!!
HOLY WEEK SERVICES
Holy Week will begin with our Palm Sunday service on April 2nd at 11 am. Then on Maundy Thursday evening we will be joining with Covenant Presbyterian Church for a Love Feast potluck supper and service in their Fellowship Hall beginning at 6 pm. Please arrive early since the meal is part of the worship service. On Good Friday evening there will be a special worship service in our church Sanctuary beginning at 6 pm. We look forward to seeing you.
An offering will be taken at both services that is designated for the Presbyterian Hunger Fund. Your financial support enables the Presbyterian Hunger Program (PHP) to witness to the healing love of Christ and to bring hope to communities and individuals struggling with hunger. By providing access to more and better food; standing in solidarity with economic and environmental justice campaigns; and creating more livable environments for all, your gifts to the Presbyterian Hunger Fund help to end hunger worldwide and care for all God’s creation.
UPCOMING GROUP WALKS
An outing is planned at Winged Deer Park on Palm Sunday, April 2nd at 2:00 pm to see the Bluebells and other early spring flowers. This will be a slow-paced stroll mainly on paved paths. We will meet in the parking lot for the Disc Golf course. The entrance is across Carol Creek road from the boat launch area and the pavilion where we have the Father’s day service. Everyone is welcome. We will post announcements of further walks when they are planned.
PUBLICATIONS AVAILABLE
The WAPC Green Team has recently published a new recipe book, Book of Uncommon (Vegetarian) Recipes and they are selling like hotcakes. This new book focuses on both vegan and vegetarian recipes. The rationale for this book is that eating less meat is better for the environment, our health, and the animal kingdom. You may note that there are no recipes with marshmallows or gelatin in our cookbook, maybe a first for a church cookbook of this nature. Copies of our book are on sale through the church office for $10 apiece. So give us a call or stop by for your copy.
